How to get a website for your business in Namibia

If you are thinking “I need a website for my business”, here are the steps in order, including the free route and when it is enough.

Short answer

To get a website for your business: decide what the site must do, get a domain name in your own name, choose between a free builder and a paid developer, prepare your text, photos and contact details, and agree the price and delivery window in writing. In Namibia a one-page site from ADA Web starts at N$1,199.99 and a business website at N$2,629.99.

Do I need a website for my business?

Not always, and not on day one. If every customer finds you by word of mouth, a free Google Business Profile, WhatsApp and a Facebook page can carry you for a while. You need a website when strangers search for what you sell, when people ask the same questions about prices and hours every day, or when a bank, tender or partner asks for a web address. We compare the two in website or Facebook page.

Step 1: Decide what the website must do

Write one sentence. For example: “A customer in Rundu finds us on Google, sees our prices and taps to call.” That sentence tells you which pages you need. A shop needs products and prices. A salon needs services, hours and a booking route. A trades business needs photos of finished work and a phone number that is easy to tap.

Step 2: Get a domain name in your own name

The domain is your web address, such as yourbusiness.com.na. It is paid for every year, and the business should be the registered owner, not the developer and not a friend. Read domain registration and web hosting in Namibia for the choice between .na, .com.na and .com. If you ask us to build the site, we set the domain up in your name and list it in your handover record. This is the answer to “how do I get a website domain for my business”: choose the name, pay the registrar, and keep the login.

Step 3: Free builder or paid developer

Both can be the right choice.

If you make a site yourself, you are the designer, writer, photographer and tester. If money is tight and the business is new, start free and move to a one-page website when it earns its keep.

Step 4: Prepare your content

Late content is the most common reason a website is late. Gather these before you start:

  • Your business name, logo (if you have one), address, phone, WhatsApp and email.
  • A short description: what you do, for whom, and where.
  • Your services or products, with prices or starting prices if you are willing to publish them.
  • Photos of your premises, your work and your people.
  • Opening hours and a map pin.
  • Any logins you already have: domain, Google Business Profile, Facebook page.

If you have none of these, that is a normal starting point. Tell us and we agree who supplies what.

Step 5: What it costs

ADA Web prices start at N$1,199.99 for a one-page website and N$2,629.99 for a business website, and every price is confirmed in a written scope before work starts. Your domain, paid email and any payment-provider fees are charged by other companies and are listed in the scope. Care plans start at N$349.99 a month if you want us to look after the site. See all prices and what a website costs in Namibia, which compares four Namibian companies side by side.

Step 6: How long it takes

It depends on the size of the site and on how quickly your content is ready. With us the delivery window is written into the scope before work starts, and you follow the work on a private link.

Step 7: What to ask before you pay

  • Who will own the domain and hold every login?
  • What will I pay each year after the build, and to whom?
  • Can I open sites you built, on my phone, right now?
  • What happens after launch, and what does a change cost?

These come from our list of ten questions to ask before you hire a web designer. Ask us the same ones.

After launch, add the address to your Google Business Profile and Facebook page. A care plan can look after updates monthly.

Common questions

How do I make a website for my business for free?

Use a free website builder: you pick a layout, add your text and photos, and publish. Read the plan page first for limits on your own domain name, adverts and moving your content later. For a business that wants to be found on Google, a paid site on your own domain is usually the better base.

I need a website for my small business. Where do I start?

Write what the site must do in one sentence, then gather your text, photos and contact details. Then either build a free page yourself or ask for a written quote. A one-page website from N$1,199.99 suits many new businesses.

Do I need a website if I already have a Facebook page?

Not until new customers need to find you on Google or you want prices and hours in fixed places. See website or Facebook page.

Tell us the problem. We will tell you what it takes to fix it.

Send a message, call, or use the form. You get a written scope and a price before any work starts, and there is no charge for the first conversation.
